Sovereign means: you decide. At any time.
kloudease is a Kubernetes platform with an open interface. You choose the cloud provider and hypervisor, your platform is operated in the EU, and you can take over operations yourself whenever you want.
Four dimensions of sovereignty
A data centre in the EU alone does not make a platform sovereign. What matters is who controls the interface, who operates the platform and how easily you can switch.
Open interface
Your workloads run on standard Kubernetes with established open-source components. The kloudease API is Kubernetes-native (CRDs based on kcp) and manages clusters and services. Your applications do not depend on it – on exit, clusters and manifests remain standard Kubernetes.
Free choice of infrastructure
STACKIT, hyperscalers, private cloud or Proxmox – kloudease is independent of cloud provider and hypervisor. The platform stays the same, whatever it runs on.
Operated in the EU
Operated by AOE in Germany, fully on European infrastructure such as STACKIT if you wish. GDPR-compliant and ISO 27001 certified.
Exit at any time
Because everything is built on open standards, you can take over operations or switch providers without rebuilding your applications.
More than an EU data centre
A European location is a prerequisite, but not yet sovereignty. You remain dependent as long as interface, software and operational know-how sit with a single vendor. That is why kloudease ensures:
- Your applications speak Kubernetes. The kloudease API is a Kubernetes-native management layer, not a runtime dependency.
- The platform stack relies on open-source standards from the CNCF ecosystem.
- Cloud providers and hypervisors are interchangeable.
- You can take over operations yourself at any time.
