DFS: moving the development platform securely to the cloud
DFS Deutsche Flugsicherung stands for safety in German airspace. For the migration of its development platform to the cloud, it relies on AOE, the team behind kloudease.
Starting point
High security demands, flexible development
A sovereign task
Air navigation services need an independently operated, particularly well-protected infrastructure.
First steps taken
Individual applications were already in the cloud – now the entire development platform was to follow.
Predictable and scalable
Development projects were to become more flexible, costs more predictable and environments more scalable.
Bringing the teams along
The development teams were to learn to use cloud services and DevOps practices hands-on.
What AOE delivered
After analysing the status quo, AOE planned the migration in a structured way and supported the teams during implementation:
- Infrastructure as code with Terraform and Terragrunt, including a CI/CD pipeline for the entire cloud infrastructure
- Modern version control, artefact repository and Linux-based container infrastructure
- Observability with monitoring, logging and alerting for the entire development infrastructure
- Identity & access management, zero-trust approaches, plus DNS and certificate management
- Central secret management and a backup and disaster recovery strategy
- User and operations documentation
Outcome
Secure, stable, scalable
High IT performance through cloud migration and DevOps practices in operations
More predictable costs thanks to a cloud-first strategy and operating instead of capital expenditure
More security through IAM, zero trust and central secret management
Future-proof and flexible for new development projects
High security requirements, little time for platform operations?
kloudease packages the experience from projects like this into an operated Kubernetes platform. In the Requirements Workshop we clarify your starting point, target picture and next steps – at a fixed price of 3,890 €.
